Battery passport & ESPR compliance
A DPP is not a QR code: it is your living product record
For manufacturers, the Digital Product Passport starts with identity (GTIN / serial, GS1 Digital Link), continues with regulatory data (Annex XIII for batteries, ESPR delegated acts for other families), and only stays useful if it updates after sale — warranties, repairs, spare parts.
The first hard deadline is the battery passport (EU Regulation 2023/1542): from 18 February 2027, EV, LMT and industrial batteries above 2 kWh placed on the EU market need an active passport reachable via QR code. This is sector law, not an ESPR delegated act — but it relies on the shared DPP technical stack (CEN/CENELEC JTC 24, EU registry).
