Legal warranty is a legal protection that covers product conformity defects for a specified period. In France, the legal warranty of conformity lasts 2 years from delivery. It enables the consumer to obtain repair, replacement or refund of a defective product. Verisav automatically manages legal warranty by activating warranty upon purchase and tracking its validity in the DPP. The legal warranty of conformity is a legal obligation that automatically applies to all products sold to consumers, without needing to be activated or subscribed. It covers conformity defects, i.e., discrepancies between actual product characteristics and those expected or declared. Legal warranty applies for 2 years from product delivery in France, and for similar durations in other European countries. During the first 24 months, the consumer benefits from a presumption of conformity defect, meaning the seller must prove the defect did not exist at the time of sale. After 24 months, the consumer must prove the defect existed at the time of sale. In case of conformity defect, the consumer can request repair or replacement of the product, unless these solutions are impossible or disproportionate. If repair or replacement are not possible, or if the seller refuses to perform them, the consumer can request refund of the purchase price. The DPP can store all legal warranty-related information: purchase date, delivery date, expiration date, claims history, interventions performed, etc. Verisav automates legal warranty management by automatically recording purchase and delivery dates upon warranty activation, automatically calculating expiration date, tracking all claims and interventions, and alerting consumers and businesses when warranty approaches expiration.
